Mazamorra is one of the most traditional dishes of Antioquia and Colombian cuisine. Its origins date back to the colonial era, when the Spanish arrived in the Americas and discovered maize, a staple food in the diet of the indigenous peoples. Over time, it became a symbol of Antioquia’s cultural and culinary identity, giving rise to iconic recipes such as mazamorra with milk.

In the morning, it is common to see the traditional motorbikes and wooden carts on the streets of Medellín and the towns of Antioquia, carrying large pots of hot mazamorra, whilst loudspeakers announce: “Mazamorra with milk” – an irresistible invitation for lovers of this traditional delicacy.
