The textile industry in Medellín has undergone a remarkable evolution, combining ancestral techniques with innovation and modern design. Its development has been driven by the talent, creativity, and knowledge inherited from Colombia’s indigenous peoples, who have preserved the tradition of artisanal textile art across generations. Using natural fibers such as cotton, wool, and fique, these communities create unique textile crafts, including indigenous backpacks, woven blankets, jackets, and traditional clothing. Each piece reflects the region’s cultural identity, becoming a symbol of its textile heritage.
